ILUKA/CCAR TREE FARM CELEBRATES
11TH ANNIVERSARY

August marks the 11th anniversary of the association between CCAR and ILUKA under the job training scope of “Commissioned Cultivation And Reforestation.” The Tree Farm Project located on Warner Road in Green Cove Spring, has touched the lives of not only CCAR job trainees, but also students from Bannerman Alternative School and the Camp Blanding Training Program as well.

In addition to the outdoor nursery’s training in the planting and maintenance of native hardwood trees, the program has been expanded to include a green house and the cultivation of native plants. The greenhouse has been a collaborative effort between Wal-Mart Super Store, area Master Gardeners, the County Extension Office and CCAR, with funding provided by the St. Augustine Diocese, Thrivent Financials for Lutherans, and area plant sales.

The anniversary cook-out held on Thursday, August 19th, at the Tree Farm brought together representatives from all agencies who worked together to make the horticulture programs so successful. Each participant and participating agency was presented with a certificate of appreciation and a commemorative tee shirt.
