Lighthouse Learning Center is an educational and therapeutic program for children ages birth to five years old with special developmental needs. The Center is located in Orange Park, Florida and serves children from the following counties: Clay, Duval, Baker, St. Johns, Alachua, Bradford, and Putnam.
Lighthouse's mission is to provide an educational and therapeutic environment for non-disabled and disabled pre-school children, to stress inclusion as part of the learning process, and to assist parents in becoming strong advocates of their children. From the beginning, on November 6, 1978 when Lighthouse first opened its doors to families, it has been a family based program. "This is a wonderful place for children to learn and grow. Lighthouse has experienced many successes and has transitioned from a four children preschool in 1978 to a full service therapy and preschool center with workshops and support groups.
The LLC program consists of two primary elements: education and therapy. Please investigate our services.
Children are referred to LLC by the Infant and Toddlers Early Intervention Program www.doh.state.fl.us/cms/preventdivision/cmseipeligible.htm, physicians, parents, and by Shands Jacksonville Hospital. There is no cost for the program for children and families who exhibit a need for services.
Funding for the Lighthouse Learning Center comes from state and federal sources, the Clay County School Board, the United Way, the Jacksonville Children's Commission, and the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council, and special grants and foundations. Other funding comes from donations and fund raising activities. Donations of school materials and volunteer work are also important facets that keep Lighthouse functioning.
If you are inserested in donating or volunteering please contact LLC at (904) 264-7392.
