EDUCATIONAL CLASSROOM
Classrooms are organized environments that encourage learning through play and exploration. The Carolina Curriculum is used. Class size is small, enabling teachers to give individual attention to children. The Center has three pre-school classes for children ages 3-5, and two developmental classes for children 14 months to 3 years old. |

HEAD START/INCLUSION
The Center houses one Headstart class. The Headstart program is federally funded for low-income families. The program consists of developmentally appropriate activities, nutritious meals, health screenings and social services. This class is important to the disabled-nondisableed inclusive environment created at Lighthouse Learning Center.
An additional education program is provided in the early mornings and afternoons for children of parents who work.
NURSING
A Registered Nurse is on staff to administer medications as necessary, and to take care of the medical needs of children enrolled at Lighthouse.
SNOEZELEN
Lighthouse has a special sensory room called a Snoezelen room. Originating in Scandinavia, Snoezelen consists of pleasurable, multi-sensory experiences in a relaxing atmosphere. Sensory stimulation is integral to early brain development.
EARLY HOME VISITS
Early Intervention is one-on-one directed play designed to develop cognitive skills. These sessions are conducted by an early interventionist and are provided at the Center or in the home.
FAMILY HOME VISITS
Lighthouse's family home visit program is designed to provide informational and emotional support to families receiving services from LLC. Home visitors advocate for children and their families, and assist with developmental activities. The goal is to bring home and education together.
YOUTH AND ADULT VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
We love volunteers. The community has been extremely supportive of the Lighthouse program. Volunteers give their time and expertise to assist and expand the quality of the Center. Students may earn volunteer hours toward a state scholarship program, or use their experience at Lighthouse to better themselves and our program. If you are interested please contact us.
