Sibshops

Hey Kids

(oh, and parents, too!)

Do you have a brother or sister with special developmental need?

Do you like...

Wild Fun, Crazy Games, Yummy Food

If you said "YES!" to these questions, we want you to join us at Sibshops.

Sibshops are lively events led by energetic adults where you can meet other kids who have siblings with special developmental needs, play games, eat, and share some of your experiences about being a sibling of a kid with special needs.

Sibshops are held one Saturday a month
from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
at Lighthouse Learning Center in Orange Park.

Brothers and sisters of children with special needs now have a chance to meet and talk with other kids whose brothers and sisters have special needs. They'll have an opportunity to talk about the good and not-so-good parts of having a sibling with special developmental needs. They'll also have fun! Lighthouse Learning Center

Kids

Brothers and sisters may have feelings that are difficult to express, even to a friend: sadness that a sister can't learn things that others take for granted, anger when a brother's physical limitations prevent the family from doing things other families do, or the special pride when a sibling with a disability learns a basic but important life skill after months or years of practice. At Sibshops, siblings will share the feelings with other who truly understand.

Besides peer support, Sibshops provide participants with and opportunity to learn more about their siblings' needs. Most important, Sibshops are FUN! Participants play games, cook lunches and make new friends.
